Safeguarding and Pastoral
Pastoral care is highly valued at Sacred Heart and is an important part of our commitment to offering a warm, caring and supportive environment. Each child self allocates an Emotionally Available Adult who is a named adult they trust and feel comfortable with. Personal, social and health education is taught rigorously across school. We have a range of social and emotional interventions delivered by skilled adults. When necessary, we access external counselling support. We have strong relationships with external agencies who can offer support to children and their families.
We have adopted the Sheffield Safeguarding Board Policies, a link to which can be found below. We place a high priority on educating our children about the safety measures they must use when online. Throughout our curriculum, the children are taught a wide range of safety aspects including the importance of their own responsibilities in looking after themselves and each other, how they can keep themselves safe and how to judge risk.
If you have any concerns about the health or safety of a child at our school, you should share this information with any appropriate member of staff. Do not worry about reporting small matters - we would rather you tell us things that turn out to be small than miss a worrying situation.
If you think that a child has been or might be harmed, please contact one of the Designated Safeguarding Leads immediately. You can ask any member of staff to find them and ask them to speak to you straight away about a confidential and urgent matter.
You can also phone the Sheffield Safeguarding Hub on 0114 273 4855 (24 hours) to speak to a social worker. If a child is in immediate danger then call 999 for a police response.
**Members of the public can discuss their concerns in confidence and if necessary, anonymously.**
